Since this midday, and for the third straight day, we are more than one thousand people walking around different streets and squares around Puerta del Sol as an answer to the police shutting down this square. We started in Plaza de Oriente and from that hour people started a walkabout.
Police closing down, people going through the streets that had repeatedly been walked around during the last few hours: Carretas, Mayor, Arenal.
We want to remind you that the police had been identifying those who looked “suspicious”.
After the protesters’ concentration in Callao square at 22:00 they started marching towards Gran Vía cutting traffic on the way to Cibeles square. There, around 800 people held an assembly, some suggested going towards Colón square, while others said to go concentrate in front of the Interior Ministry.
At around 22:45, more than 14 police vans intercepted around 5,000 people on their way to the Interior Ministry, charging towards them.
The result of this police charge has been several people wounded and arrested. The most severe one has been a middle-aged person attacked by four agents, who was wounded in the head and was bleeding severely. He has lost a lot of blood because the police was blocking the entrance of the emergency services. The people did not provoke them.
It seems like what has set off the charge was putting up a sign that read “We are walking towards Iceland”.
Also, the police held back a RTVE journalist and there are reports of more people wounded: a 68 year old woman and a 23 year old man.
